A town of Spisska Stara Ves is one of the entering points to the National Park of Pieniny. The smallest national park in Slovakia is located in the region of Zamagurie. Danujec river flows through the park creating natural border line between Poland and Slovakia and inviting tourist to try out traditional wooden rafting down the river. You can find several convenient tourist pathways and cycle routes along the river bank. The main tourist season opens in April and closes in October. Visit the PIENAP National Park in autumn when it is said to be the most beautiful.
The highest point of the National Park of Pieniny is called “Okrunglica” (982 m above the sea level) and is situated on the Polish side of the park on three sharp rocks called “Tri Koruny”. Start the hike in Červený Kláštor, it takes about 1 hour to 1 hour and 50 minutes to reach the point, depending on your fitness and weather. Or admire the beautiful panorama of Tri Koruny while rafting down the Dunajec river on a traditional wooden raft.
If you are one of those who enjoy panoramic views, try a ridge trail of Pieniny. Continue from the Tri Koruny on tourist pathway to Sokolica. The trail with breath-taking views takes about 3 to 5 hours.
Follow a tourist pathway or a cycle route along the Dunajec river and enjoy relaxing natural surroundings. For a change, try traditional wooden rafting on the way from Lesnica to Červený Kláštor, and rent a bike for the way back. Make sure to book a bike before you go rafting. The pathway is 9 km long and suitable also for beginners and families with children.
Get on a flat wooden raft in Červený Kláštor and enjoy traditional old way of rafting the river. It takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes (depending on the level of the Dunajec river) down to Lesnica.
